PURPOSE:To increase reliability and lengthen life by pouring gelled electrolyte in a plurality of plate groups which are inserted into the small cell, and making the electrolyte contact with the plate groups through the upper part of a reinforcing partition. CONSTITUTION:Each plate group 12 is inserted into each cell formed by dividing a container 1 into a plurality of blocks with reinforcing partitions capable of gas transmission. A gelled electrode 14 is poured in each plate group 12 to reach the upper part of the partition 13. Accordingly, the gelled electrolyte 14 is in contact with each plate group 12 through the upper part of the partition 13. Thereby. the electrolyte volume of each plate and gas absorption capability are made uniform. Therefore, the dispersion of capacity of each plate group and corrosion of positive grid can be prevented, and reliability is increased and life is lengthened. |
