PURPOSE:To increase volume efficiency by forming a part, which is in contact with an adhesive, of a container side wall so as to have a smaller inclination angle than the contact angle of the liquid adhesive to the horizontal. CONSTITUTION:A lead-acid battery is fabricated by bonding a battery container 1 in which power generating elements 5 are accommodated and a battery cover 2 with a liquid adhesive 3. A part, which is in contact with the surface level of liquid adhesive 3, of the side wall of the container 1 is formed so as to have a smaller inclination angle theta' than the contact angle theta of the adhesive to the horizontal. A part at which the surface level of the liquid adhesive 3 is in contact with the container 1 is made lower than the meniscus 6 of the adhesive 3. Thereby, since the part 4 of the adhesive does not reach the power generating elements 5, the distance l1 between the meniscus 6 and the power generating elements 5 can be decreased and the volume efficiency of the battery is increased. |
