PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of deterioration of picture quality by sup pressing component of high spatial frequency. CONSTITUTION:At the time of ordinary reproducing, a switch 13 selects output of a DPCM decoder 49 and outputs a reproduced picture. At the time of special reproducing etc., the switch 13 selects the output of a wave filter 12. As deterioration is concentrated to high band component of spatial frequency at the time of special reproducing, the output of an adder 9 of reproducing side is passed through the wave filter 12 to suppress high band component of spatial frequency. Thus, a reproduced picture free from deterioration of picture quality can be obtained.
