The converter for NTSC-standard signal to a PAL-standard signal, or vice versa, operates with an NTSC signal in which an auxiliary carrier of two colour components in quadrature are modulated on a PAL signal of similar modulation. The signal components in quadrature modulation are modulated on an auxiliary carrier. A signal generator provides a first continous signal wave with a differential frequency and a second signal wave with summation frequency. Two modulated signals are generated by multiplication of original signal with first signal wave, and by multiplication of the original signal with the second signal wave respectively.
