Procedure and device for heating stone material, especially stone aggregate (17) used for producing concrete mixtures, in a silo (8) by leading steam into the aggregate (17) and allowing the steam in the aggregate (17) to flow to the outside of the silo (8). In this invention, air is suctioned from the aggregate (17) at a position (4) at the bottom section of the silo (8) and steam is led into the aggregate (17) at a second position (3) situated higher than the first-name position (4) so that the steam flows through the aggregate (17) at least mainly from its top down. In this way, a clear segregation zone is obtained between the air and the sinking steam because the air's density is greater than that of the hot steam.<IMAGE> |
