PURPOSE:To execute easily the heat treatment of a large-sized material to be treated as well while shutting off said material from the atm. in the stage of dipping successively the material to be treated into plural fluidized bed furnaces and heat-treating said material by sealing a passage for conveying the material by a shielding wall which shuts off the atm. CONSTITUTION:Gaseous nitrogen is supplied through a supply pipeline 4 to a preheating furnace 1, a regular heating furnace 2 and a tempering furnace 3 where heat resistant particles are fluidized and fluidized beds are formed. Ports 1a-3a for putting in and out of the material to be treated are opened into the passage 5 for conveyance to the respective furnaces 1-3. The passage 5 is enclosed of the shielding wall 6 and the inlet side wall 6a and outlet side wall 6b thereof are dipped into the fluidized beds so as to bisect the ports 1a, 3a thereby sealing the passage 5 against the atm. A basket 9 contg. the material 8 to be treated is hung by a jig 7a and is conveyed by a conveyor 7b so as to be passed through the slit provided to the wall 6. The material is successively dipped into the furnaces 1-3 by a vertical driving device 7c, by which the material is heat-treated.
