PURPOSE:To suppress irregularity in deterioration due to electrostatic charging and to obtain an invariably uniform image by setting the electric resistance of a paper intrusion preventing member within a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The sheet entry preventing member 3 is provided between a sheet and an electrostatic charge wire 2 so as to prevent the sheet from entering an electrostatic charger 1. The volume resistivity of the sheet entry preventing member 3 is set to 10<8>-10<13>OMEGA.cm. When the resistance is large, an electric field increases in width, so a potential difference increases. When the resistance is small, on the other hand, the electric field is concentrated on the paper intrusion preventing member, so a part where no electric field is applied from a transfer charger is formed on a photosensitive drum and the electric field spreads as well as when the resistance is large, thereby generating a potential difference due to deterioration irregularity. |
