PURPOSE:To improve the performance of discrimination by arranging the 2nd X-ray collimeter for reducing the beam width of an X-ray beam irradiated to a baggage smaller than the beam width of the 1st X-ray collimeter close to a position exceeding the allowable limit height of the baggage. CONSTITUTION:An X-ray from an X-ray tube device 1 is transmitted through the baggage 9 and forms an image on a phosphor 5a arranged on the inside of an X-ray detector 5. Then image is converted into an electric signal by a photosensor 6 and processed by a picture image processing part 4 and the processed picture image is displayed on a monitor 7. The baggage 9 is set up on an endless belt and carried and the passage of the baggage 9 through the detector is detected by photosensors 11, 12 to control an X-ray shutter 13. An X-ray beam from the device 1 is stopped by the collimeters 14, 15. The collimeter 15 for reducing the beam with of the beam to be irradiated less than the beam width of the collimeter 14 is arranged close to a position exceeding the allowable limit height of the baggage 9. Thus, the performance of discrimination can be improved and the preciseness of a baggage inspection can be improved. |
