PURPOSE:To prevent the capture of an undesired communication circuit by delivering a call through an automatic calling means only when a prescribed state of the communication device is detected. CONSTITUTION:A signal showing the presence/absence of a transmitted original is delivered from an original detecting circuit. The procedure proceeds to a step M7 when the presence of the original to be transmitted is decided at a step M3 and then to a step M4 if no original is detected. Then the presence/ absence of a polling waiting state is decided and the procedure proceeds to a step M' in a polling waiting mode and then to a step M5 if the polling waiting state is not decided. The presence/absence of the recording paper is decided at the step M4' and the procedure proceeds to a step M7 if the presence of the recording paper is decided. While the procedure proceeds to a step M6 if no recording paper is detected. It is decided at a step M5 whether the telephone handset is hook off or not. Then the procedure proceeds to the step M7 id the handset is hooked off and to the step M6 as long as the handset is not hooked off. Thus a main power supply is cut off and the procedure is reset to a stand-by state. The telephone circuit is caught at and after the step M7 and the procedure proceeds to the communication processing routine.
