PURPOSE:To prevent a film from damaging by providing a means which switches a guide member between a guide state and a non-guide state at specific timing. CONSTITUTION:A detecting means 36 provided nearby a film guide roller 11 at the side of the guide member 17 irradiates the rays of light and detects light reflected by the leader part of the microfilm F, thereby detecting the passing of the leader part of the film F. The switching means 34 places the guide member 17 in the non-guide state more quickly. While the guide member 17 is in the non-guide state, the film F never damages even if conveyed at a high speed and stopped abruptly, so that the film F is retrieved in a short time.
