PURPOSE:To enable continuous and smooth flow in of an intake volume by reducing the ratio of the width of variation of the traveling distance of a slide valve to the magnitude of deviation signal of a discharging pressure in a discharging passage from a target value, near a totally closed condition of said slide valve, by means of a calculator. CONSTITUTION:Deviation of discharging pressure in a discharging passage 4 from a target value, is outputted by means of a process controller 8, and this deviation signal is inputted into a calculator 1. A position signal is being fed back to the traveling distance l of a slide valve 6 in the calculator 1, which is formed in such a way that the ratio of the width of variation of the traveling distance l to the magnitude of the deviation signal, is made small near the totally closed condition in which slight variation in the traveling distance l causes rapid variation in an intake volume. Thereby, the deviation signal is corrected based on the gain characteristic of the calculator 1, and inputted into an E/E positioner 9, operating a four-way selector valve 5 and making the slide valve 6 travel, to carry out the flow in of the intake volume continuously and smoothly even near the totally closed condition in which particularly rapid variation in the intake volume takes place accompanying the travel of the slide valve 6.
