PURPOSE:To obtain a color developable recording material containing a stiryl quinoline skeletal compound showing excellent solubility and also improved in light fastness and the darkening of a developed color phase, by containing a specific compound as a coupler. CONSTITUTION:In formula (I), R is a 6-12C alkyl group or a benzyl group and the ring A and ring B in a quinoline group may be substituted. By selecting the hydrocarbon residue having 6 or more carbon atoms as R, a m.p. becomes low generally as compared with a starting homologue and a more stable soluble state is easy to obtain even in an inexpensive solvent among ones used in vacuum copy paper. When one of two -OR groups is introduced into the ethylene bond of a stiryl group at the ortho position thereof, a developed color phase is darkened and light fastness of a solution is improved. That is, the stiryl quinoline compound generates chemical reaction in its double bond when is allowed to stand under the irradiation of light because contains the stiryl group and has such a defect that color forming capacity is attenuated corresponding to the irradiation quantity of light. In the formula (I), when the -OR group is introduced into the ethylene group at the ortho position thereof, photochemical attenuation is clearly reduced. |
