ROLL FOR TREATING FURNACE HAVING SUPERIOR BUILD-UP RESISTANCE

PURPOSE:To provide superior build-up resistance to a roll for a heat treating furnace having a surface layer of molten silica by coating the surface of the molten silica with finely powdered silica. CONSTITUTION:The average surface roughness of a roll for a heat treating furnace having a surface layer of molten silica is >=50mum along the center line by the presence of pores and the partial projection of coarse grains. The surface of the molten silica is coated with finely powdered silica of <=30mum average particle size by baking or other method to regulate the surface roughness to <=10mum.
