PURPOSE:To keep a loss torque characteristic constant for a temperature change by providing a coil for changing the intensity of magnetic field applied to a magnetic fluid filling a clearance between a rotary shaft and a bearing, and controlling the intensity of a current applied to the coil. CONSTITUTION:A rotary shaft 1 is inserted in a cylindrical bearing 2, and a clearance between the shaft and bearing is filled with a magnetic fluid 3. A pair of right and left yokes 4a, 4b are fixed outside the bearing 2, and both yokes 4a, 4b are connected by an iron core 6 where a coil 5 is wound to form a magnetic circuit 7. Further, the coil 5 is connected to a coil driving circuit 8. The coil driving circuit 8 comprises a control circuit 9 which is adapted to control intensity of current applied to the coil 5 by a control signal to control intensity of magnetic field applied to the magnetic fluid 3.
