PURPOSE:To provide a carbon fiber-reinforced resin compsn. which has excellent frictional characteristics, little causes lowering in flexural strength and tensile strength under high temperature conditions and is suitable for use as a molding material for gear, bearing, etc., by blending carbon fiber with nylon 46 in a specified weight ratio. CONSTITUTION:5-90pts.wt. carbon fiber is blended with 100pts.wt. nylon 46 obtd. by the polycondensation of tetramethylenediamine and adipic acid to obtain the desired carbon fiber-reinforced resin compsn. Nylon 46 having a sulfuric acid viscosity (1wt% soln. in 95wt% sulfuric acid) of 2-4 is preferred. Carbon fiber having an average fiber length of 100-3,000mu is preferred. PAN carbon fiber obtd. from acrylonitrile as well as pitch carbon fiber may be used. If desired, small quantities of heat-proofing agent, flame retarder, lubricant, etc., may be added.
