PURPOSE:To manufacture an information carrier disc with a high reliability and durability by forming signals pits or guide grooves on a glass substrate. CONSTITUTION:The glass substrate 1 is coated with a photo-resist with a thick ness of 5,000Angstrom , which is then dried, exposed to the Ar laser beam, developed, washed with water, and baked to form resist patterns 2. Then, a dielectric layer 3 of SiO2 with a thickness of 710Angstrom is formed over a surface by the vac uum deposition method. This film thickness is equivalent to an optical film thickness of 1/8 of the wavelength of a laser beam (830nm) for recording and reproduction. Thus prepared films are next immersed in the acetone to desolve the photo-resist patterns and lift-off the SiO2 layer formed above them so that the information carrier disc with grooves are obtained.
