A thermally insulating wallpaper liner or similar, at least 3 mm thick, is produced from an extruded completely foamed-up polystyrene, which has a series of adjacent lateral grooves on one side. In an embodiment the transverse grooves in the extruded sheeting extend from one side to the other and on the one surface. They are pref. formed by heating and melting and they have a V-section, with a narrow ridge between adjacent grooves. The grooves enable the sheeting to be reeled into rolls of relatively small dia. in which the grooved side is innermost. The material is applied in the same way as conventional wallpaper.
