PURPOSE:To obtain a recording picture with high quality by detecting the position of a mark provided to an image forming body to control the operating sequence of the device, thereby deciding accurately the timing of each processes of picture forming. CONSTITUTION:As a picture memory ME, e.g., a floppy disc or a magnetic tape is used and a picture data inputted by a proper picture input device in response to an original picture is stored in the picture memory ME. A picture data is sent to a picture data processing section TR, where the data is converted into a form suitable for the recording and the converted result is sent to a recording section RE. Electrophotographic system is adopted for the recording section RE, a mark 3 with a high reflection density is provided to the side ridge of the image forming body 1 and the mark 3 is read by a mark detector S comprising a photo sensor, then a clock pulse generator generates a clock pulse. The control section controls the recording section RE according to the clock pulse.
