PURPOSE:To record and transmit simultaneously two different data strings by providing the first encoder for adding an error detecting and correcting code to the first data string, and the second encoder for adding the error detecting and correcting code to the third data string which has mixed the second data train in output information of the first encoder. CONSTITUTION:In an encoder A11, error detecting and correcting codes P1...P4 are added to data A1...A12 of 12 units of one block, and one block is constituted of a 16 unit length. Subsequently, the second data string which is different entirely is mixed by a mixer 12. In this case, the second data string has a data quantity of one unit against one block, and A1 is replaced with B1. In an encoder B13, one block is regarded as a 16-unit data string, and an error detecting and correcting code of 4 units is added. As for a data structure in the output of the encoder B13, error detecting and correcting codes Q1...Q4 are added to the data B1, A2...A12, P1...P4, and one block is constituted of a 20-unit length, and sent to a recording system and a transmission system.
