PURPOSE:To obtain the titled preparation having high stability and resistant to oxidation, by dissolving a 1alpha-hydroxyvitamin D in a medium-chain fatty acid triglyceride essentially free from unsaturated acid, and filling the solution in a soft capsule. CONSTITUTION:The objective preparation is produced by dissolving a 1alpha- hydroxyvitamin D (e.g. 1alpha-hydroxyvitamin D3) in a medium-chain fatty acid triglyceride essentially free from unsaturated acid (e.g. tricaprylic acid glyceride), and filling the solution in a soft capsule. Since the 1alpha-hydroxyvitamin D has high physiological activity, it has to be administered at a dose of as low as 0.5mug. Although it is desirable to administer the compound in the form of a soft capsule by dissolving in an oily base to ensure the accurate dose to the patient, however, it is unstable to heat and light and is liable to be oxidized. A soft capsule preparation having high stability and resistant to oxidization can be obtained by using the above oily base as a solvent.
