Device for the treatment of water containing limestone. This device comprises essentially an inner tubular member 10, an outer tubular member 11 and two end fittings 12 and 13. These members are arranged so that an annular space 18 is provided between the tubular member 10 and the tubular member 11. The entry fitting 12 comprises a central bore 19 and at least one side opening for making the central bore communicate with the annular space 18. The outlet fitting 13 comprises a central bore 21 and at least one side opening for collecting the water circulating through the annular space 18. The side opening(s) of the entry fitting is (are) arranged so as to generate a helical circulation of the water in the annular space 18 whatever the use regime. <IMAGE>
