This granulating or "prilling" tower comprises, in its lower part, a central fluidised bed device 5 separated from the volume of the tower by a baffle 6 and flanked, on each side, by a side fluidised bed device 4 in direct communication with the volume of the tower. The side fluidised bed devices communicate, by means of chutes or any other equivalent means of transfer with the central device from which the cooled granules are discharged onto a conveyor 9. The gases originating from the central fluidised bed device are discharged outside the tower volume via a conduit 7, thus to remove from the latter a part of the heat given up by the granules. <IMAGE>
