PURPOSE:To make it possible to surely separate sheet, which are stacked on the sheet feed section of a pallette elevating device, along a ream marker tape, by providing insert bollows and an insert head for vertically separating the stacked papers in a ream marker tape section and by providing a gripper for gripping the leading end section of the thus separated sheet to transfer the latter. CONSTITUTION:A sensor for detecting the presence of a rear marker tape T on stacked sheets set on the sheet supply section 1 of an elevating device, is attached to a longitudinally and vertically movable head frame 41 in a separating and supplying section 3. Further, when this sensor detects a ream marker tape T, an insert head 4 and insert bellows 5 are advanced to absorb the tape T by means of this insert head 4 through absorbing holes. Then, the bellows 5 are inserted into sets along the absorbed tape T to separate stacked sheets with the use of both insert head and insert bellows, above and below the level of the ream maker tape. Then, thus separated sheet are gripped at the leading end-thereof by a gripper 6 provided on the head frame 41, and are then transferred to the next process station.
