In a tilting sliding roof for motor vehicles whose rigid sliding roof cover is supported in a vertically adjustable fashion at the front end on sliding shoes so as to be capable of swivelling about an axis directed transversely with respect to the direction of travel, and at the rear end via extendable lifting levers, and which, during the displacement of the sliding shoes which bear the lifting levers, can be either lifted out of its closed position into a ventilation position or lowered out of its closed position into a sliding position, a considerable reduction of the necessary installation height is achieved in that the sliding shoes which support the lifting levers against the guide rails are themselves constructed as control links and the lifting levers are supported via in each case at least one pin in at least one slot-shaped guide track of the control links. Furthermore, the structure of the sliding roof is simplified overall in that the control links are of integral construction with the front-end swivel bearing of the sliding roof cover and, if appropriate, a transversely directed rain channel which is arranged at the rear end. <IMAGE>
