PURPOSE:To obtain easily soft water by sealing a finely granulated ion exchange resin in a highly water-permeable bag, charging such bag into a container filled with potable water, etc. and resting the same for a short period. CONSTITUTION:The finely granulated ion exchange resin 1 is sealed into the highly water-permeable bag 2. Such gas is charged into the container filled with the potable water, etc. and is rested for the short period (e.g.; 30min-1hr). The soft water is thus easily obtd. The above-mentioned ion exchange resin 1 having cation exchangeability is effective for removing the hardness and may be used in conjunction with the resin having anion exchangeability.
