In a liquid-storage area, in particular a stormwater tank (1), a flushing-surge storage chamber (1b) which, as the accumulation-liquid level rises, automatically fills with accumulation liquid is arranged in the supply region (3) of the storage area (1) in order to generate a flushing surge which cleans the base of the tank after the latter has been emptied. This flushing-surge storage chamber has a supply opening (11) which is closed by a backflow preventer (12). In a petition wall (19), which subdivides the storage area (1) into a pre-chamber (1a) and a main chamber (1c), there are provided a throttle opening (8) and at least one flushing opening (10) which is closed and released by a closure flap (13), controlled by the accumulation-liquid level, such that the accumulated storage liquid can emerge as a flushing surge when the storage area has emptied. An additional pre-flushing of the tank can be achieved by means of a special configuration of the throttle opening (8) and/or of further openings arranged in the partition wall (19). <IMAGE>
