The automatic readjusting device has an extendible readjusting member, which is arranged between the brake piston (8) and the mechanical actuating device and has two readjusting elements (readjusting spindle (22) and readjusting nut (14)) connected to one another by a non-self-locking thread, and has a coupling (36, 42) for holding fast one of the readjusting elements during mechanical actuation, and a spring (40) which is supported, on the one hand, against a stop fixed to the housing and, on the other hand, against a rolling bearing (34) which is seated on one of the readjusting elements. In order to permit simple and economical production, a spacer element (66) is provided which is supported, on the one hand, against the brake housing (2) and, on the other hand, against one of the readjusting elements (14, 22). <IMAGE>
