CATALYST FOR PRODUCING MIXED ALCOHOL

PURPOSE:To increase the selectivity of alcohol having >=2C and to prevent the scatter of Ni by blending Ni, Zn and alkali metal to prepare a catalyst for producing mixed alcohol. CONSTITUTION:Each water soluble compd. of Ni, Zn and alkali metal is selected and an aq. soln. or an aq. suspension having the prescribed concn. is prepared by dissolving the water soluble compd. in water. After adding a coprecipitant such as sodium carbonate thereto and regulating the pH to produce a precipitation, the precursor of a catalyst is molded by drying the precipitation and calcining it at about 200-500 deg.C for about 1-40hr. The catalyst for producing mixed alcohol is obtained by drying the precursor for the catalyst and thereafter heat-treating it at about 200-500 deg.C for about 1-40hr in the reducing atmosphere such as CO and H2 to reduce the compds. of each component source.
