Screw press with a drive on the press head

A screw press exists in which a press stand is formed by an upper crossmember (1) a lower crossmember (2) and two columns, and a drive (24) is mounted at the top next to the upper crossmember (1). It is desirable for a hydraulic drive to be accommodated in the head of the machine in a favourable fashion while avoiding projecting enlargements. This is achieved in that the regions of the upper crossmember (1) which are situated above the two columns (3) form a supply container (29) in each case, an axial piston motor (22) and only one electric motor (24) with pump (lacuna) on two plates (18) which form the cover of the two supply containers (29) inside the overall width of the press and the pump (23) projects into the supply container (29), and the two supply containers (29) are connected to one another by a horizontal pipe (32). The electric motor, the pump, the axial piston motors and the supply containers are arranged in such a way that the screw press does not widen towards the top. <IMAGE>
