Apparatus for adjusting blanks made of webs of flooring material in processing machines, e.g. a device for applying a back coating, a shaping device, a cutting machine or the like, the said apparatus comprising a chain conveyor with two chain strands and a frame with holding elements for the blank which are formed by needles which are arranged on the frame and penetrate the blank in its edge region. The frame is composed of an outer frame and an inner frame, the outer frame being intended for loose, unconnected support on the strands of the chain conveyor and the needles being arranged on the inner frame. The needles are arranged on the inner frame, some of them being fixed and some of them being movable inwards perpendicularly to the strut supporting them, and are arranged on needle platelets which are fastened on a set of rods which are guided in the inner frame and can be moved horizontally between two end positions. The set of rods is loaded by means of a spring against the pulling action of the blank held by the needles, the spring having a force which exceeds the pulling action of the blank held by the needles and the set of rods being provided with a releasable lock which locks the set of rods in its inner end position once it has been inserted.
