Process for preparing water-containing silica (silicic acid)

A process is described for preparing water-containing silica according to which a liquid water-containing silicate material is fed from a material charging opening into a mineral acid phase, the condensation reaction of the silanol groups of the liquid water-containing silicate material is induced, beginning at its surface, with the liquid water-containing silicate material being converted into porous water-containing silica. According to the invention, the charging of the material into the mineral acid phase is via a liquid buffer phase which comprises a liquid which essentially does not react with the mineral acid and the water-containing silicate.
