PURPOSE:To prevent a nozzle from allowing air inflow and ink run thereto as well as ink dry therein, by a method wherein a cap device comprises; an elastic body mounted on the circumferential edge thereof and in contact with a head; an air bleed hole opened/closed by a shutter, and also the adhesion of the cap device to the head is ensured by pressing again the elastic body thereto after the adhesion is completed by pressing the elastic body being deformed. CONSTITUTION:When the printing is not performed, travel of a roller 12 along with a roller guide profile rail 14 results in travel of a cap device toward a head 15, and the cap device comes into contact therewith. Simultanenously, an elastic body 2 begins deforming and continues until it comes on the front ends of elastic deformation limit rods 7, 7, thus the first step is completed. In this condition, the airtightness between the head and the cap is ensured, and an air bleed hole 3 is opened, which does not induce pressure increase. The presence of the limit rods prevents the space in the cap to be further compressed. The cap still presses the head, and a slide shutter 4 at the tip end of a push rod 5 moves by being forced by a compression spring 8 to close the air bleed hole 3. |
