发明名称 PRODUCTION OF AMALGAM FOR FLUORESCENT LAMP
摘要 PURPOSE:To solidify the droplets of molten amalgam to spherical amalgam grains in the stage of producing the spherical amalgam to be sealed into a fluorescent lamp by dropping the droplets of the molten amalgam into plural layers of cooling liquid consisting of the upper layer having small specific heat and the lower layer having large specific heat. CONSTITUTION:The melt 3 of amalgam of In and Bi to be used by being sealed in the fluorescent lamp is put into a stainless steel vessel 1 and is heated by a high-frequency coil 2 by which the amalgam is maintained in the molten state. An insert gas such as N2 is put into an upper space 4 of the vessel 1 to prevent the oxidation of the amalgam 3. The surface of the molten amalgam 3 is intermittently pressurized by the inert gas and the liquid teardrops 6 of the molten amalgam are dropped from a nozzle 5 at the top end of the vessel 1 into a cooling liquid tank 7. A silicon oil 8, etc. having the small specific heat and water 9 having the large specific heat are formed with upper and lower layers in the tank 7. The molten amalgam is gradually cooled and the tear-like projections are rounded by the surface tension in the stage of passing through the silicon oil 8. The amalgam made into the spherical shape enters the water 9 where the amalgam is cooled to solidify as the spherical solid amalgam.
