<p>In a two stage separator for dewatering of sewage, the sewage is fed on to a semi-cylindrical bar screen 20 from which the solids content is swept by a rotating rake (18) into a tank 40A, where a macerator-pump unit 42 chops it up and delivers it, with a fraction of the liquid content which passed through screen 20, through pipe 45 to a weir feedbox 48 and thence on to a second semi-cylindrical screen 28. Rotating brushes, rollers and/or scrapers (26, 50A) sweep the solids from screen 28 into a tank 52. The two screens are axially aligned side-by-side so that their respective rakes and brushes etc can be mounted for rotation on a common shaft (12). A return pipe returns some of the mixture from feedbox 48 to tank 40A for further maceration. <IMAGE></p> |
