An identifying arrangement for food products in solid block form provided with an external protective covering 3a, such as cheeses, cooked sausages, or hams and the like, which may be sold in portions, comprising a generally linear identifying beading member 2a adhered to the block covering 3a and which is cut into fractions 10a when the block is cut into portions 8a, each portion 8a remaining attached to a corresponding fraction 10a providing it with an individual means of identification of the origin and type of the portion. The beading has distinguishing means of different shapes and colours 12-15 and 18. For meats, a beading of PVC is adhesively (16) secured to a covering of polyester.
