METHOD FOR EVALUATING FLUIDITY OF SLUDGE

PURPOSE:To evaluate precisely the fluidity of a sludge of low moisture content as well by filling the sludge into a cylinder mounted with an orifice plate, extruding the sludge through the orifice by a piston and using the extruding force as the index for evaluating the fluidity. CONSTITUTION:The sludge 1 is filled into the cylinder 2. The cylinder 2 is attached to the orifice plate 4 and the sludge 1 is pressed by the piston 3 to extrude the sludge 1 through the orifice 4a of the plate 4 in the lower part of the cylinder 2. The extrusion pressure is measured by a load cell 7 provided to a pressurizing member 6. The fluidity of the sludge is evaluated from the extrusion pressure. The precise evaluation of the fluidity of the sludge is thus made possible even with the sludge of a low moisture content and the result thereof is made useful for designing the power of a pump for sludge transportation and the pressure feeding in a piping.
