A method is described for the improvement of the chargability of battery electrodes of secondaries batteries with electrode frameworks of metallised polypropylene or propylene-copolymerisate which resides in that the electrode framework is irreversibly compressed before the impregnation with the active masses of the battery, with a tool which is maintained at a surface temperature of 110 to 180 DEG C, particularly 140 to 115 DEG C to reduce the thickness of the frame by up to 15%, particularly 1 to 5%. By this treatment the internal resistance of the battery cells decreased by up to 50% as compared with cells with untreated electrode frames. Furthermore, cells with untreated electrode frames are less liable to have internal short-circuits. |
