<p>PURPOSE:To remove and recover efficiently Cu and Te from crude silver in a short time by melting the crude silver contg. specified percentages of Cu and Te by heating to a specified temp. and by adding a specified amount of alkali hydroxide while blowing gas contg. oxygen. CONSTITUTION:Crude silver contg. 0.5-5% Cu and 0.1-1% Te is melted by heating to 700-1,200 deg.C in a furnace. While gaseous O2 or air is blown into the molten crude silver, solid or liq. sodium hydroxide is added by an amount 0.5-5 times the total amount of the Cu and Te in the crude silver. At this time, a proper amount of a protective agent for protecting the wall of the furnace may be added. The Cu and Te can be efficiently removed and recovered from the crude silver. The remaining Ag is electrolyzed as an anode to obtain high purity silver.</p> |
