PURPOSE:To increase a write speed by providing a chrome oxide film forming a hole in accordance with each picture element, on the inner surface of one substrate of two pieces of substrates, and forming an infrared ray absorbing transparent film extending over the whole surface of the inner surface of the other substrate. CONSTITUTION:As for an upper substrate 1, a chrome oxide film is formed on an upper glass substrate 4-1, and the substrate 1 is constituted by providing an Al film 6 and an oriented film 7-1 on said film. On the other hand, as for a lower substrate 2, an ITO film 8-1 and an oriented film 7-2 are formed on a lower glass substrate 4-2, and a laser write liquid crystal panel is formed by inserting and holding a liquid crystal layer 3 between the upper side substrate 1 and the lower side substrate 2. When a laser beam 10-1 of a prescribed diameter is irradiated to the laser write liquid crystal panel, a part of a laser beam 10-2 transmits through a laser transmission hole 9, subsequently, transmits through the liquid crystal layer 3, etc., reaches the ITO film 8-1, and it is converted to heat of absorption. The panel is heated from both sides of the liquid crystal layer 3 by irradiating the laser beam 10-1 from one direction, a picture element write speed can be increased remarkably.
