NEW MATERIAL:The trihaloimidazole derivative of formula I (X1, X2 and X3 are halogen; R is lower alkyl-substituted or unsubstituted cyclopropylmethyl). USE:Useful as an insecticidal and miticidal agent. It has insecticidal and miticidal activities against various vermin, and is effective especially against cockroaches such as German cockroach, smoky-brown cockroach, etc. It is used in the form of emulsifiable concentrate, wettable powder, aerosol, mosquito stick, and fumigation agent such as porous ceramic plate mat. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting 1 equivalent of trihaloimidazole of formula II with preferably 1-2 equivalent of the ether compound of formula III in the presence of a dehydrohalogenation agent at 0-150 deg.C.
