The mechanism comprises a hollow body 14 of circular cross section incorporating rollers 10 and 13 mounted in the wall of the hollow body parallel to each other and at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the hollow body, whose upper part is connected to or includes a stop member 4. A fixer member 7 mounted within the hollow body has its upper end connected to a cap 1 formed in a lower region with opposed longitudinally extending slots 5 for connecting the fixer member to the cap. The fixer member is associated at its lower end with locking means 18, 19 for retaining it in the hollow body. A slit spring body 20 connected to the lower end of the hollow body 14 so as to be incapable of relative movement has its lower end engaging a signal stem 23 below which lies a bearing assembly 28 clamped in place in the fixing mechanism.
