PURPOSE:To inhibit a nonvolatile memory from being backed up with mediums of devices other than a device which has the nonvolatile memory, by generating automatically discrimination information of this device on the nonvolatile memory and recording this information on a backup medium also to discriminate the private medium of the device. CONSTITUTION:'0' is set to a device use start information area 13 of the nonvolatile memory of the device at the shipping time, and data in a device discrimination area 14 is unfixed. '0' is recorded in a discrimination information area 10 of a floppy disc at the shipping time to indicate ineffectiveness. Contents of a device discrimination area 11 are unfixed. When the device is used first, random numbers are generated and are written in a device discrimination area 14 because contents of the device use start area 13 are '0', and '1' is written in the device use start area 13. '1' is written in the discrimination information area 10 of the floppy disc, and contents of the device discrimination area 14 are transferred to the device discrimination area 11. Thus the private backup medium of this device is generated, and the nonvolatile memory is backed up hereafter only when contents of device discrimination areas coincide with each other. |
