PURPOSE:To open a sliding door in a stable hanging down state, by a method wherein, after a roller, located to the abutment edge of a door, is moved from a notche in a side wall to a main rail by pulling the door this side, the door is slid. CONSTITUTION:The ends of a main rail 1 for hanging down mounted to the front end of the upper wall of a furniture are bent toward the rear of the furniture, 1 notches 14 are formed in the vicinity of the central part of a back side wall 1a of the main rail 1, and a pair of doors 5 and 5' are hung down from the main rail 1 through a roller 9. When a handle 13 of the left door 5 is pulled this side in a condition to close the doors 5 and 5', a roller 8 is moved through the notche 14 and enters the main rail 1. The handle 13 is further pulled rightward, the rollers 8 and 9 are moved over the main rail 1, the door 5 is moved to a position in front of the door 5, and the door 5 is opened in a stable state.
