PURPOSE:To provide a cosmetic base having excellent spreadability, giving a flexible and water-repellent film free of greasy touch, and composed of a polyhydric alcohol having an ether bond. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic composed of (A) a 2-hydroxyalkyl polyol ether having a melting point of about 25-100 deg.C and prepared by substituting an alcoholic hydrogen atom of a polyhydric alcohol such as glycerine, diethyleneglycol, etc., with a long-chain 2-hydroxyalkyl group having a carbon number of 10-30, (B) one or more vegetable oil, animal oil, mineral oil, etc. which are liquid at room temperature, and (C) vitamins, hormones, surface active agent, etc., at need. EFFECT:Stable to the pH variation caused by the addition of the effective component; non-irritant and non-toxic to the skin; moderate water-repellency and wettability. |
