PURPOSE:To obtain a low-cost thermal printer capable of giving high-quality printing by arranging heating elements of the same dimensions in plural rows with different intervals on a printing head. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head is provided with heating resistor rows 40A and 40B, wiring groups 52A and 52B, and a common wiring line 51. Each heating resistor is of an oblong form with dimensions of W<P1<P2<H. For the row 40A, the arranging interval between the moving direction of the thermal head and the right angled direction to the moving direction of the thermal head and the right angled direction to the moving direction is P1 for each case. Also, for the row 40B, the arranging interval is P2 for each case, with a slanting arrangement. W is the dimension of heating resistor in the moving direction of printing head, and H is the dimension of heating resistor in the right angled direction to the moving direction of the head. In such an arrangement even when heating resistors of the same dimensions are arranged, spaces between recorded dots can be continued and the deterioration of printing quality can be prevented. |
