Protection device according to the present invention for a rigid variable spiraled inductance , the inductance variation being ensured by a roller slinding on a conductive rod. According to the invention, this device comprises a second condurtive roller short-circuiting the first non-used half-turn. This second roller can be associated to another short circuit contact short circuiting two following turns of the non-used part of the inductance. Applications for this invention are HF broadcasting stations and other HF devices necessitating variable inductances to ensure tuning of a wide band of frequencies.
