<p>PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for sealing a pipe material, by pressurizing the pipe material in the axial direction and, simultaneously, adding ultrasonic vibration in the direction normal to the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:A pipe material 1 of Al, etc., is put on an anvil 4 and, at the same time, a horn 2 which produces ultrasonic vibration is provided in the direction normal to the axis of the pipe material 2. The end section of the pipe material 1 on the anvil 4 is pressed by means of a welding tip 3 and the upper and lower plates of the pipe material 1 is brought into contact with each other. The ultrasonic vibration is added to the pipe material 1 in the transverse direction normal to the pressing direction. When the ultrasonic vibration is added, a surface oxide film on the frictional surface of the pipe material 1 is destructed and the upper and lower plates are joined together and the pipe material 1 is sealed. Since the pipe material 1 is not heated to a high temperature when this method is applied, the strength does not drop and the sealing can be performed in a short time.</p> |
