The folded bag side edge areas (21,23) become side wall parts of the bag as it is filled. This means that the base width of the bag is reduced from its normal manufactured dimension (B) to a lower (B2) one. - In order to fill bags with material with differing densities, where the bags have the same length and breadth dimensions, the bags are made with a normal base width. Where the inserted material has a larger density, a bottom width reduction is necessary, so that the requisite volume reduction in the filled bag is achieved. Filling in this case can take place using the largest dimension for the filler pipe employed, i.e. corresp. to the largest bag base width. |
