PURPOSE:To print longitudinally and laterally written documents together at the time of printing documents and to improve documentation and editing functions of a document forming device by registering the header document and footer sentence of the longitudinally written document as well as its text separate from the text in the same manner as the header and footer functions of the laterally written document. CONSTITUTION:Document information from a document file 1 is developed by a page developing means 2, and the arbitrary document information and the printing position information of each row character string are stored in a page buffer 5 and a row control table 6, respectively. The means 2 checks the presence or absence of the header from document printing information so as to store the character number of the header and the header character string in a header and footer buffer 4. The character number of the header and the character string in the buffer 4 are processed by a header and footer character position calculating means 7, and the header and footer are developed in the buffer 5 and the table 6 through a header and footer developing means 10. Then the header document and the footer sentence of the longitudinally written document are registered separately from the text as well as the header and footer functions of the laterally written document, thereby improving the documentation function. |
