Oil is sepd. by coalescence from an emulsion during passage from the interior of a perforated cylindrical support outwards through a multilayer structure. The first and third layers, in the flow direction, are of synthetic oil-loving fibres, sepd. by a layer of fleece made of 1-4 micron thick glass fibre. A fourth layer, acting as reinforcement for the preceding layers, is of woven fabric. The four layers are bonded by needle-felting, and held on the support by external tension bands. Packing density of the third layer is not more than half that of the first layer, while the glass fibre layer is at least twice as dense as the first layer.
|
